Ashford University in Iowa is one of the most trusted educational institutions in the Midwest.
Formerly known as Mount St. Claire College and founded in 1919 by the Sisters of St. Francis, Ashford University has been a part of the storied tradition and history of Clinton, Iowa. The new millennium brought many changes to Ashford University. From Mount St. Claire College, the school was renamed the Franciscan University in 2002. Three years later, the school went back to its original name, Ashford University, after it was acquired by the Bridgepoint Education, Inc.

Ashford University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCAHLC), which ensures that every college within its jurisdiction follows certain minimum quality standards. Credits earned at one regionally accredited university or college can be readily be moved and credited to another regionally accredited university or college.
Recently, the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) accredited 19 degree programs offered at Ashford University’s College of Business and Professional Studies. Accreditation from the IACBE is a boost to the university’s efforts to ensure the quality and excellence of its business programs.
